Thanks! MP4 most likely converted from the original FLAC or MP3 files. This issue, if any, is that the bit rate is reduced from the original source. That's what all the bitching is about. You can convert the files back however they won't have the original fidelity. I guess.
The m4a files are most likely from the nugs stream or the SiriusXM App stream, I think this has been established previously.
But who cares really, I am listening to the show right now on my phone with headphones so these m4a files are perfect for that type of listening!
Yeah, no doubt. I mean someone put them up for free so how can you really complain? I was just trying to clarify why someone would bitch about them being mp4 and not the offical files. But they usually turn up just be patient and thankful.

The m4a files are most likely from the Nugs streaming service, it is pretty easy to download them and the bitrate is about 140 kbps.

M4A is Apple Lossless when I've gotten them from official channels.
This M4A is 44khz - 148 kbps.
M4A 140 kbps are great, not sure why you're getting worked up in every post. M4A has a more efficient compression so you can't compare the 2 based on kbps alone. You make it seem like the poster is intentionally down sampling the files before posting which isn't the case.

Well, it finally happened. The shit posters have chased away us folk with the quality downloads. I always buy 1 or 2 shows per tour and post here, and it equals out because other GREAT posters always post the other shows... but not anymore. And apparently I'm not the only one refusing to post here due to the shit posters taking over They (he) ruined this page for everyone. I hope you're all happy with your songs sounding like they were recorded off the radio with a cassette player, because you've seen the last of us posting quality shows.. Y'all might as well build a shrine for Maarten, as he's the one who drove us all away (the legit show posters, anyway).

Heck, I'll put my name to it. I've been posting legit shows to this board for 8 or 9 years, but no more. It makes me ill knowing guys like Maarten take my uploads, DOWN-SAMPLE THEM (it's NOT stream-grabbing, guys), and then spread them all over the web, like a virus throughout the PJ comminuty.
Those saying "just be happy with anything" have it all wrong. It's like telling me I should be happy if someone gave me food, but only after SPITTING IN IT first. I hate seeing this forum die, at least as far as legit boots go, but I can no longer post here. It was a great ride, and who knows, maybe some of the other legit posters will return some day. I just can't do it anymore, knowing the shows I post will be mangled and re-posted as trash.

the anger is not about a file type. it's about a scumbag taking perfectly good, bought and paid for boots... degrading them by downsampling them (they are not grabbed from a nugs stream, btw), and spreading them thru a once great community. and i say "once great" because backhanded guys like maarten have driven away legit caring posters by taking their uploads and destroying them. why would anyone post a legit boot here knowing it will just be mangled and reposted as garbage? and those (like you) who approve those tactics are also part of the reason us good posters are leaving / have left. so continue to to praise his mangled m4a files, because the quality files wont be posted here again. not by me, they wont. you chose your new lead poster, your only poster.. and it is Maarten. i hate seeing this boatd die, but posting quality boots here, only to see them down-sampled and re-distributed would make ME a part of the problem too, and i can't have that.

One side blames the other. Downsampling without permission from the OG post isn't cool. But at the same time, nearly everyone here shares shows anonymously. On the flipside, demanding that anyone follow your rules is silly -- especially if you're unwilling to share your identity where recognition can be tied to your efforts. This is the internet. Shit happens, and will continue to happen. If you want to ensure that your shared files aren't messed with, look into software that prevents files from being converted. Much of the back and forth here sounds like middle school kids who just learned how to use the salty side of their brains.
There are other places to find these shows, but you have to be willing to put in effort and time to finding them.
Every show I ever shared here (PAST tense) was shared anonymously, for one VERY obvious reason. And there are no "silly rules" as you say, only consequences. And it's a shame that all of us who post boots here can no longer do so. I used to love this place, but now posting shows here is contributing to the spread of downsampled shows by the guy who does it and those who praise him for it, and sadly, they're the only ones, left here. So there's not "two sides" anymore - the good guys have left.

You (plural) chose that stand! the US against Maarten stand for down-sampling files!...which totally is legit. Nobody kicked anyone away, you choose to do that, which is also legit. The only stand many of us took, is that this matter doesn't justify any insults at all or the aggressiveness in some of the comments. Sharing the files in the format that you assume as the one that should be shared, in some 'obscure' place that nobody here knows about....definitely, does not represent, at all, the PJ Family/Community.

I am starting to believe it is the same abusive person that constantly abuses Maarten pretending to be more than one person now. The magical 'US'. Seems to be the same sentence structure, same circular argument, same assumptions, same targeted abuse, same word use, same grammar etc.
This person seems to have only found this board during the last tour, started abusing Maarten and has successfully destroyed a board that has been sharing PJs live music for years.
I would love to see the evidence the that the 'US' has collected that 'proves' the m4a files are in fact 'down-sampled' and not taken from the Nugs app or the SiriusXM App. And Maarten sharing them and being banned for sharing them elsewhere is not evidence he down-sampled anything.
I also love the argument that you can't purchase them in that bit-rate so they are not 'legit', but they never complain about the mp3's at 320kbps which you also can't purchase from nugs or pearljam.com at that bit-rate, there the mp3's are encoded at 256 kbps. That means the 320 kbps mp3's are down-sampled from the FLAC or another high-fidelity format, it is the only way theses shows can be 320kbps in mp3 and by there own arguement are not 'legit'.
