"Nothingman" and rarity "Hard To Imagine" show up for the first time on this tour. "Untitled" is played prior to "MFC". Mike plays a few lines of "River of Deceit" (Mad Season) before "Last Kiss". Mudhoney's Mark Arm and Steve Turner join the band for "Kick Out the Jams" and "Rockin' In The Free World". On "Rockin'", Mark and Ed alternate verses and later Mike and Steve alternate solos.
Ed whispers "I wanna try this" and plays the instrumental "Romanza" before "Better Man". "It's better than we remember" Ed says during the first encore break. A moment later, some fans throw up Mexican national team soccer jerseys for each member (including Boom!) with their names on the back which the band all put on. "How do we look? I hope they don't see this in Brazil. You've given us so much, thank you - the shirts off your back."
The night begins with Ed's hello, "Que onda, Monterrey?" a common way young people in Mexico greet each other. The Auditorio Coca Cola normally holds 20-40,000 capacity but the entire venue was not opened up, so the attendance was only 8-10,000, prompting Ed to start "Hail, Hail" off with the modified lyric "Looks like there's room for both of us." Ed welcomes the crowd in Spanish, saying "Hola Monterrey, como esta? Nosotros estamos contentos" which translates (roughly) to "Hello Monterrey, how are you? we're fine." He then switches to his native tongue, saying "Is it ok if I speak English? It's hard for me to speak Spanish when I'm drunk, you'd understand" and continues "But, you know, we've been a band for 15 years and it's very nice for us to be able to come to a place we've never been before."
Pearl Jam starts their "last" Brazil show (this tour) with "Last Exit." During the "Daughter" jam, Ed starts an "oh-oh" chant common from past "Daughter"s, followed by a tag from Dead Moon's "It's OK." He starts a tag of Mudhoney's "Suck You Dry" but he realizes the crowd is still singing the "oh-oh" chant from previous "Daughter" jams, so he steps back and lets that continue ("Bravo Rio!").
Ed comes down from the stage and sings in the open area in the center of the pit. Ed profusely thanks the Sao Paolo crowd for their enthusiasm during the two-day span and closes the show by referencing the rules imposed for the Sao Paolo shows "Thanks to the neighobrohood for letting us play loud. Thanks to your voices being loud to let us play in the neighborhood."
Only weeks prior to these shows, Sao Paolo Mayor Jose Serra had suspended shows in Pacaembu after complaints from residents around the stadium about the noise. For the concerts to go ahead, Serra set a list of demands, including that the concert must finish at 9.45 p.m. sharp and rehearsals must take place during the day for just 30 minutes.
"We finally meet!", Ed mentions on the band's second Brazil concert. "In English, I say that this is a very beautiful place you have here. And I know ... it's a beautiful stage made out of wood in the middle of the rock and I know that the Ramones have played here before. And tonight we're really proud to share the stage with friends and neighbors and the greatest of bands, Mudhoney. ("Mud-ho-ney" chant ensues) A toast to Mudhoney."
For the majority of the show, Ed addresses the crowd in their native Portuguese. "Rearviewmirror" jam includes the chorus from "Gone", previously only played at 10/01/05 Atlantic City. Following "Crazy Mary" Ed introduces drummer Marky Ramone "And tonight on the drums, this is Marky Ramone." With that, Marky hops on Matt's kit and plays drums for "I Believe in Miracles." The five-song second encore is acknowledged with "We're going to play a couple more than usual tonight."
Just prior to Pearl Jam's set, the P.A. music was a Spanish cover of "Last Kiss". Ed came out singing the "Oh, oh, oh..." part along whith the crowd. Leading off, "MFC"'s chorus lyrics are changed to "There's no leaving here, ask Argentina!".
The 11/25 and 11/26 concerts were originally scheduled for Boca Juniors Stadium, but changed on 11/17 due to a rescheduled soccer match. Before "I Am Mine", Eddie said (in Spanish, he was reading from his notebook) "Thank you for waiting for so long, thanks to the neighbors but we cannot lower down the volume". The crowd is singing loudly with every word - as well as the guitar parts!! To the bands amazement, the crowd is actually singing the guitar parts, specifically singing "Ohhhs" for Stone's guitar bridge in "Do The Evolution", the intro to "I Am Mine", the guitar solo outro of "Even Flow" and the last chorus bass lead-in to "Rearviewmirror", among others. At one point Ed said "we should be paying you for coming here".
Second night in Chile for the band. PJ is having fun with the soccer chants, turning it into a full band jam for one lasting close to two minutes.
